You can heat up these cold winter nights with this warm coffee drink that is truly international. It combines one-half ounce each of Kahlua (a coffee-flavored liqueur from Mexico), Frangelico (a hazelnut-flavored liqueur from Italy) and Bailey's Irish Cream (a combination of Irish whiskey and cream).
If you are serving these drinks at a party, remember to prepare the number of glasses you will need about an hour before hand.
Sheree DeLorenzo, once a bartender herself and now owner and general manager of Seaport Grille at Cruiseport Gloucester, offers a few worthwhile tips on how to mix and serve this drink.
Check out the Taste of the Times online at gloucestertimes.com/food to watch how DeLorenzo prepares this tasty drink.
Tip 1A: Create a flavorful and attractive rim on each glass with a mixture of Kahlua and brown sugar. Dip the glass into the Kahlua and then in the brown sugar. Repeat.
Tip 1B: Let the glass sit until sugar mixture hardens.
Tip 2: Put the liqueurs into the glass before adding the hot coffee to avoid overheating and possibly breaking the glass.
Tip 3: Serve topped with whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate.
