A dead snake, covered with flies, was found in a Magnolia mailbox Thursday
Gloucester police responded to a house on Magnolia Avenue at 8:25 p.m. Thursday after a caller reported finding the dead snake in a mailbox.
According to police reports, the snake had been there a while because it was covered with flies and showed other signs of decomposition.
Police said they are not sure whether the snake was put there by another party, or if it had gotten into the mailbox on its own.
The officers disposed of the snake by throwing it into the nearby woods.
Branden Comeau, 22, of 471/2 Prospect St., Gloucester, was arrested Friday morning on charges of domestic assault and battery.
Comeau was arrested at 2:15 a.m. after police were called to his Prospect Street apartment on reports that he assaulted a woman at the house.
The Gloucester Fire Department extinguished a small transformer fire on Essex Avenue at 9 p.m. Thursday. National Grid was called to the scene to repair the damage, according to police reports.
A Peabody woman reported to police at 12:05 p.m. Friday that 20 Adderall pills were stolen from her car while it was parked on Washington Square.
Adderall is used as part of a treatment program to control symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in adults and children.
The woman told police her car was locked and she believe somebody took her car keys while they were left unattended. Police have no suspects.
