ROCKPORT — Police here spent much of Thursday morning attempting to locate a missing person, but the search ended happily when the adult female in question was located — in Chicago.

Police say that, at about 6:30 a.m., officers received information that an automobile had been parked at the Rockport MBTA station for almost a month.

After running the license plates, police learned that the vehicle belonged to a Boston woman who had been suspected to be missing.

Police in Rockport and Boston worked together to attempt the locate the woman, and learned that she had traveled to Chicago and is safe and staying with family there.

Police and medical personnel responded to a call Wednesday at 4:59 p.m. from Andrews Hollow about a woman who needed medical assistance. She was taken to Addison Gilbert Hospital.

On Wednesday at 8:55 a.m., police were called to Bearskin Neck, near the Bear Skin Neck Motor Lodge, about concerns that a seal had washed up on the rocks.

Police called the New England Aquarium, and officials from that institution declared the seal was dead. They could not reach the body, but police said Thursday it had been taken out to sea.
