To the editor:
We recently moved to Gloucester and are very glad we did, as we are enjoying living here. We live near and enjoy walking through the Oak Grove Cemetery. It does seem strange to us that many people ignore the "No Dogs" sign and walk their dogs in the cemetery. Unfortunately, a fair number of dog owners deposit their filled doggy bags at the base of one of the cemetery oak trees, while others don't even bother to pick up their dog's excrement.
Apparently the cemetery is privately owned. I hope the owners take some kind of action to rectify this unsanitary and unsightly situation and either take steps to educate the public that no dogs are allowed, or change their policy to allow dogs and provide some kind of receptacle for the elimination of dog waste.
