To the editor:

I can’t believe the town of Rockport would ticket cars on Main Street on Memorial Day but they did to the disappointment of many visitors.

Obviously it was assumed that Memorial Day would be excluded by the amount of tickets issued that day. My wife and I had just come from Main Street in Gloucester, where it was excluded. We have always enjoyed both main streets but that $30 ticket dampened such a nice day we were spending that we will never spend another dime in Rockport. Why they would treat visitors this way on a holiday is inexcusable. They left a sour taste on that day for a lot of people. We will continue to only enjoy the quaint Main street of Gloucester which is more welcoming.
