Pool play wrapped up in the District 15 Williamsport Little League Tournament on Tuesday night, and one Cape Ann team has advanced to the semifinal round.
Manchester Essex is moving on after finishing pool play with a 3-0 record.
The team finished off the opening round of the tournament with an 8-7 win over Danvers American at Sweeney Park. Both teams came into the game with matching 2-0 records and both already advances to the semifinal round so saving their top pitchers was the priority on Tuesday night.
Manchester Essex opened up the tournament with a 14-0 win over Amesbury followed by an 11-5 win over Beverly.
Manchester Essex and Danvers American join Hamilton-Wenham and Middleton in the double-elimination semifinal round, which begins on Saturday at Harry Ball Field in Beverly. Manchester Essex will take on Hamilton-Wenham in the opener at 10 a.m. followed by Danvers American and Middleton at noon.
Saturday's losers meet on Monday at 5:30 p.m. while the winners will play for a chance to go to the District Finals at 7:30 p.m. The District Finals are next Thursday and next Friday if necessary.
Gloucester may have beaten Boxford-Topsfield on Tuesday night at Boudreau Field, but it was already eliminated from the semifinal round over the weekend.
Gloucester opened up the tournament with a 7-0 win over Danvers National, but lost its next two games to Hamilton-Wenham (6-0) and Middleton (7-2). Middleton's win over Danvers National on Tuesday night officially eliminated Gloucester, which finished the tournament with a record of 2-2.
